A lot of dependable work is hidden in maintenance rooms, utility yards, factories, labs, transportation systems, and inspection departments. The days can involve checklists, gauges, measurements, scheduled tests, and the same equipment over and over. But that routine is also part of the appeal. When a job is tied to physical equipment, safety rules, licenses, or required inspections, employers can’t simply decide the work no longer needs doing.
