Holiday shopping, travel, and extra family meals can make December a lot more expensive than usual. The good news is that plenty of companies add remote workers for just this busy period. Most of these roles don’t require a long onboarding or specialized training, and many let you choose shifts around your current job.

Here are 15 seasonal work from home jobs to look for if you want to boost your holiday budget.

1. Remote customer service representative

Retailers, delivery services, and big online brands get flooded with calls and chats in November and December. They hire remote agents to answer basic questions, track orders, and fix simple problems. You’ll need a quiet space, good internet, and a calm phone manner.

These roles are great if you can work evenings or weekends, since that’s when customer demand spikes. Many companies supply scripts and chat tools, so you don’t have to figure things out on your own.

2. Virtual chat support agent

If you don’t love being on the phone, look for seasonal chat or email support. It’s the same idea as customer service, but everything happens on-screen. You’ll help people find products, apply promo codes, or check shipping times.

Because it’s typed, it’s easier to do around family life. Just be ready to answer quickly, since holiday shoppers don’t like to wait.

3. Retail order processing assistant

Some e-commerce businesses hire remote workers to help process online orders, verify addresses, or fix small errors before items ship. It’s not glamorous, but it keeps holiday orders moving and it’s usually flexible.

This can be a good fit if you’re detail-oriented and don’t mind repetitive tasks for a few weeks.

4. Social media holiday responder

Brands see a surge in Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok comments around the holidays and need people to monitor inboxes, answer simple questions, and pass problems to the main team.

If you already spend time on social media and can keep a brand-friendly tone, this is an easy seasonal side income option.

5. Remote sales or upsell rep

Some companies run holiday promotions and need extra people to follow up on leads, call warm prospects, or encourage add-ons. These are often short-term contracts that last through the end of the year.

You’ll do best here if you’re comfortable talking to people and following a script. In some cases there are bonuses for each sale.

6. Gift concierge or virtual shopper

High-end retailers and gift services sometimes hire remote workers to help customers pick the right gift, bundle items, and make sure it arrives on time.

This kind of role is fun if you like shopping and you’re good at suggesting alternatives when items are out of stock.

7. Tech support for new devices

When everyone’s getting new tablets, smart speakers, and gaming gear, tech companies get more “how do I set this up?” requests. Some of them add short-term remote tech support agents to help with basic setup.

If you’re comfortable walking someone through connecting to Wi-Fi or installing an app, this is an easy seasonal job to pick up.

8. Online return and exchange support

Right after the holidays, returns spike. A lot. Companies need people to issue labels, approve exchanges, and answer “where’s my refund?” questions.

This work usually starts in late December and runs through January, so it’s ideal if you want extra cash right after Christmas.

9. Virtual administrative assistant (short-term)

Small businesses get busy at year-end and don’t always want to hire someone permanent. They’ll bring on a remote assistant to handle inbox triage, appointment scheduling, and document cleanup.

It won’t always be holiday themed, but it’s still seasonal and can help you make up the December gap.

10. Content or product description updater

Some online stores need help updating product pages, adding holiday shipping notes, or posting daily deals. If you can write clearly and follow a template, this can be a straightforward remote gig for a few weeks.

It’s a good option if you prefer solo work over talking to customers all day.

11. Remote fundraising caller

End of year is also a big donation season. Nonprofits sometimes hire temporary remote callers to thank donors or remind past donors about year-end giving.

The conversations are usually friendly, and some roles don’t require you to ask for money, just to confirm details and say thank you.

12. Online ESL or tutoring fill-ins

Some tutoring platforms need more teachers in December because their regular tutors travel. If you’re already approved on a platform, this can be a good time to pick up more sessions.

You may need to work early mornings or evenings to match student time zones, but the work is all from home.

13. Transcription or captioning projects

Media and marketing teams sometimes push to finish year-end video projects, which means they send out more audio for transcription and more videos for captioning.

This is ideal if you type fast and want something flexible you can do alongside your main job.

14. Seasonal moderation jobs

Online communities and marketplaces see more activity during the holidays. To keep things clean and safe, they hire moderators to review posts, flag scams, and approve listings.

This is mostly behind-the-scenes work, and plenty of it can be done on your own schedule.

Some companies and busy entrepreneurs bring in seasonal help to manage their December calendars, confirm travel, and send out holiday event details.

If you’re organized and good with email, this is an easy, short-term way to earn from home without phones all day.
